To do so, selecting auto-tuning (S3+4 = K3) for an initial adjustment is suggested. After initial tuning is completed, the instruction will auto modify control mode to the mode exclusively for adjusted temperature (S3+4 = K4). The ability to tune a thermal PID or other loop is even rarer. Many of the newest controllers are vastly more advanced than units from just a few years ago. Autotuning functions are available on bare-bones, 1/32 DIN controllers, and there are even several tuning strategy options to keep unruly loops under control. The same process above can also be used to PID tune your heated bed. Just use the following if you normally use 60 on the bed. (PID will need to be enabled for the bed within Marlin if you are to use this just in case it doesn’t work) Type in Pronterface: M303 E-1 S60 C5. M303 – PID Autotune; E-1 – Heated Bed; S60 – Set temperature to 60.

From the figure above, we can see that the temperature control after auto-tuning is working fine and it spent only approximately 20 minutes for the control. Next, we modify the target temperature from 80°C to 100°C and obtain the result below:

From the result above, we can see that when the parameter is 100°C, temperature control works fine and costs only 20 minutes same as that in 80°C.
